Hakes Brothers Team Volunteers at Roadrunner Food Bank to Support Albuquerque Community

Regional homebuilder assists in distributing food items to over 200 New Mexican families.

Albuquerque, NM – Hakes Brothers, a regional homebuilder with new home communities in Albuquerque, New Mexico, recently demonstrated its local commitment with hands-on participation at Roadrunner Food Bank. On Friday, July 1st, team members from the builder’s Albuquerque division rolled up their sleeves to assist with a drive-through food distribution held in the South Valley located near Rio Bravo and Coors Blvd.

The community service was proudly provided as part of the homebuilder’s philanthropic initiative to give back to the communities where building takes place. With wide-ranging participation, volunteers from the builder’s Albuquerque division included representatives from sales, closing, purchasing, and management. Collectively, the group distributed boxes of perishable and nonperishable food items to over 200 New Mexican families consisting of adults, children, seniors, and veterans.

“Working side-by-side with local volunteers is always inspiring for our team,” said Chris Hakes, Albuquerque Division President. “Paying it forward in a purposeful way is part of our company’s core values.”

Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico is the state’s largest non-profit hunger-relief organization, dedicated to ending hunger in New Mexico. Their efforts impact both individuals and families statewide by providing food to a network of statewide hunger relief partners in 16 counties.

“Volunteers make it possible for millions of meals to make into the hands of people facing hunger every year,” said Mag Strittmatter, President and CEO of Roadrunner Food Bank. “When partners like Hakes Brothers step up to help, it makes our community a better place, especially for the low-income people receiving their support and assistance.  Hunger-relief work is about getting the community involved and we are honored that companies like Hakes Brothers raise their hand to help! It makes a tremendous difference.”

In addition to preparing food boxes for distribution, the Hakes Brothers team provided recipes, preparation tips, and instructions on how to properly freeze and preserve the items. Health and safety precautions were exercised to ensure the well-being of families and volunteers.

For many years, Hakes Brothers has been involved in ongoing partnerships with local organizations that provide support to families and the communities at large. To learn more about Hakes Brothers and its communities in Albuquerque, visit https://www.hakesbrothers.com/albuquerque.
